One Frame A Day 1-27-11

He loves to take apart the playmat and chew on it!
It doesn't matter how many times we try to get him to stop,
it's the first thing he goes to when we put him on the floor to play!

Playing wears him out!

One Frame A Day 1-14-11

Today is my dad's (also known as Pop) birthday! To celebrate we all went to dinner at Travinia's Italian Kitchen here in Lexington. After dinner we came back to our house to enjoy some caramel cake. While everyone was enjoying dessert we got Cooper bathed and ready for bed. Cooper LOVES his Pop as you can see in the photo from today!

One Frame A Day 1-12-11

Another day spent in pajamas! Curtis stayed home with Cooper and took him to the doctor today only to be told "It's just a cold." We're hoping everything will start clearing up soon. Cooper is playful and doesn't act like he feels bad, but he is so congested and sounds horrible!! Tonight he was playing on his floor mat and when I looked over he was taking a full bite out of the side! Babies have no preference when they are teething, if they can get it in their mouth it's fair game!
"What? It tastes good!

One Frame A Day 1-11-11

We spent LOTS of time in our pajamas during the snow days. Cooper was sick and not sleeping well and we couldn't go out anyway, so we just changed from one set of PJs to another for a couple of days. We watched a couple of movies, I read a few books and we just enjoyed relaxing together as a family for a few extra days. Here's a picture of our sweet boy after waking up from one of his many naps, you can tell he isn't feeling like his usual happy, smiling self.

One Frame A Day 1-10-11

On January 10 we woke up to a winter wonderland!! Over night we received between 4 and 5 inches of snow, which is considered a blizzard here in South Carolina. This is the second time Cooper has seen snow but the first time we took him out in it for more than about 2 seconds :) He didn't really know what to think and in most of the pictures we took he did not appear to happy to be out in the cold. Curtis and I both ended up being off from work on Monday and Tuesday for the snow. In the 6 years that I have been a nurse I have NEVER been called off for weather! We enjoyed some lazy days around the house and since Cooper was sick both days it was just fine that we were stuck inside. Here are just a few pictures from our 2011 Snow Days!

Maybe it's going to be Two Frames A Day...

Once again, I am posting 2 pictures today because they were so cute I couldn't resist!

Getting Cooper's head scanned one more time to make sure he doesn't need a helmet. The little stocking they put on before they begin scanning is so funny, we couldn't resist taking a picture :) Good news today, no helmet!
Cooper and Caitlyn chillin' on the couch while Curtis and I ate dinner. They had so much fun playing together tonight while Nonnie and Poppa went to an "old people meeting!"

A boy and his dog...Cooper is obsessed with Griffin these days. Cooper reaches out to Griffin as he walks by and loves to pull on his beard and pet him. When Griffin licks him, Cooper just giggles and coos, it's the cutest thing ever!

One Frame a Day Project

I recently began following The Creative Mama and I'm officially addicted! One of their contributers wrote about her Photo a Day blog and how she started taking one photo a day to document the life of her family and then made photo/blog books from her entries at the end of the year. I then found out about Project Life, what an incredible way to document your family's story! All of these women inspired me to start my own 365 day photo project.
My goal is to take at least one photo a day of Cooper, our dogs, our family, or whatever strikes my interest and then to post here and journal. I know that I may not post daily, it may be once a week with all of the pictures from that week. I know I will probably miss a day here or there but I'm hoping I can stay on track and maybe start a little tradition for every New Years Day. So here we go...

1-1-11
Cooper  & I had a mini photo shoot this afternoon to document his 6 month birthday! He was so cute, laughing, trying to eat his toes and rolling all over the place. I can't wait to see what all this new year will bring!

Happy New Year and Happy 6 Months!

First of all, Happy New Year! I can't believe it's 2011! This past year has flown by for many reasons but mainly because of our little addition! Curtis and I were talking over dinner last night about the past year. The best part was by far welcoming Cooper into our lives. The scariest part of our year was the few moments after Cooper was born and we were not sure what was causing him to have breathing problems. Watching our child be intubated and rushed to the NICU is not how I imagined our first moments with our son. The 10 days that followed Cooper's birth were the hardest but some of the most rewarding times of our year. We hated to leave him at the hospital every night but we knew he was receiving the best care available and would be home with us before long. We spent those 10 days getting to know Cooper and learning how to best care for him at home. We are so fortunate that Cooper's difficult arrival had a positive outcome and he is a happy, healthy 6 month old today!

The last month has been so much fun! We have celebrated Cooper's first Christmas, enjoyed a family weekend at Litchfield, and spent lots of time together at home as well as with our extended families. Cooper has met so many milestones this month as well.
  • He is sitting alone, unsupported for extended periods of time and prefers to do so.
  • When lying on his belly he rotates his entire body to reach whatever he wants to play with.
  • He laughs and giggles at us constantly and it is infectious!
  • Cooper is eating about 5 times a day. He has cereal, fruit and milk for breakfast, a bottle mid-morning, then a veggie and fruit with his milk in the afternoon, a veggie with his cereal and milk in the evening and a bottle at bedtime.
  • Cooper is still taking a couple of naps per day and sleeping well at night other than when he's sick or teething, oh and if there are fireworks, sleep is apparently out of the question.
  • He is drooling buckets constantly and soaks through bibs and burp cloths all day long. His gums have been a little swollen so it probably won't be long before we see a few teeth poke through.
  • We got him a Little Einstein jumper for Christmas and he LOVES it! He spends a lot of time in it during the day and turns himself around in it to reach all of the toys that are attached.
  • He loves to kick his legs up any time he is on his back and try to suck/chew on his toes or socks.
  • He has started putting his pacifier in and out of his mouth and if it's close by he will grab it and put it in his mouth.
  • He sat in a high chair in a restaurant for the first time at Moe's in Irmo on December 18 and now he loves to be sitting at the table with us. We even attached his little red Chicco seat to our kitchen table until we get his beautiful high chair that Uncle AJ made especially for Cooper
  • Bath time is still one of his favorite times of the day, the boy loves to be naked!
  • We moved him into his new car seat that his Grammy and Pop bought him for Christmas, he seems so much more comfortable and it sure is easier than carrying that infant seat around.
I feel like such a slack mom and  have probably forgotten some very important moments from this past month. I hope that my little Frame a Day Project will help me remember more in the coming months!
